The Teacher

In many colleges the semester is moving forward and we get closer to the exam period. Therefore I thought, it’s time for a strobist shot, I produced at the beginning of this year.

A friend of mine, a teacher at a high school, wished to get a work portrait of him sitting over his grading work. I had an picture idea in mind, but to get the picture look it took us a long time.

We also experimented with a lot of lighting stuff, but my favorite shot was one without any strobe light (see above). The only light that was used for the shot is the lamp on the table. In the post production a lot of details of the raw-file could be revealed by means of the photomatix plugin (f13, 1/4 , ISO 100, 16mm).

The most favorite photo of my friend is the following. We used a gridded snoot to produce a shadow that mirrors his gesture.

Let me know which one you prefer.

All the best
