Google and Samsung made yesterday the announcement, that they plan to delay their next generation Android phone presentation next week in respect to Steve Jobs dead (iphone hack: http://bit.ly/oEOmkb).
Samsung and Google decide to postpone the new product announcement at CTIA Fall. We agree that it is just not the right time to announce a new product. New date and venue will be shortly announced.
I agree, it is indeed not the right time for Google and Samsung to launch a competitor phone for the iphone. But I would doubt that they stop their complete promotion campaign because they want to tribute respect for Steve Jobs.
On tuesday, when Apple announced the for many people disappointing iphone 4GS, it was the perfect timing to pitch in and show impressive alternatives to the iphone. One day later, when Steve jobs dead was announced, the complete world fell into a collective sadness and grief. And this reaction is understandable considering how much this person has changed the technology landscape we live in.
We loved Apple over years, because they delivered us with the kind of exciting products we desperately long for. We loved Apple, because there was a story to tell, about a men who’s mission it was to change the world. Everyone could see what Steve Job has done for Apple and he lived for this company. His achievements are remarkable and we loved him for his product, his company, his community, and his story.
Now, Steve Jobs is dead. I’m sad. Today is really not a good day to change my mobile phone. Would it not be betrayal against him and what he lived for ?
Google and Samsung know that and that is the real reason why Steve Jobs delayed their next announcement of Android phones. Today, the gadget customers are sad and full of grief. Tomorrow, they will lose their moral obligation to Steve Jobs and are ready to play again.
